Work and Achievements
Apollo Tyres Foundation is running HIV-AIDS awareness and prevention programme since 2001 for truck drivers and transport community; currently has clinics at 23 locations across the country at major halting points (Transport Hubs). These clinics provide free medical treatment for sexually transmitted infection and general health problem, counselling, behaviour change communication, condom promotion, medicines etc.
In the reporting period, from trucker targeted intervention programmes over 415643 people have been out reached through one to one, one to group awareness sessions, mid-media activities and peer educators network. More than 54168 people were treated out of which 3305 truckers were treated for sexually transmitted infection (STI), over 39990 people counselled for HIV-AIDS. 15458 HIV tests undertaken out of which 111 tested positive.
Now the Foundation is expanding its scope and area of activity, vision care and alcoholism awareness program me is also linked with clinic intervention.
Together we shall stand in support of those living with HIV and promise to do our bit towards fighting against HIV-AIDS.
