The mission of Naz is to build ecosystems that: Energize and enable individuals from excluded communities to realize their potential and act as change makers/agents of change. Build partnerships, networks, and linkages to catalyze a critical mass of such leaders. Engage and influence governments, businesses to take this movement to scale.

Work and Achievements

The Naz Foundation (India) Trust, abbreviated as Naz India, is a Delhi based NGO working on sexuality and sexual health since 1994. Naz’s vision is to create just and equitable society by transforming individuals from socially and economically excluded communities into agents of change. Through the years, Naz India opened up various programs for combating HIV: involving prevention as well as care, to reduce stigma, improve health, and empower families. We aim to sensitize the general population about the prevalence of HIV and also highlight the issues related to sexuality and sexual health.

India is home to the world’s largest population of HIV+ orphans. Unfortunately, the number continues to rise. Naz India opened the first care home for the orphans living HIV in north India in 2001, after a child was abandoned at our doorstep. This thriving home currently looks after 25 children providing them with educational, medical, nutritional and psychological support around the clock. Our home has become a model care home to such child care institutions throughout India. We teach our model to other institutions through our adopting a right-based approach for children living with HIV/AIDS program.

Fund Utilisation Statement

The funds will support the 25 HIV positive children of the Naz Care Home by providing education on and off school, essential life skills and vocational training.
