Ramakrishna Ashrama ROSHNI
ROSHNI established 1998, Rehabilitation persons with Neurological developmental disabilities; Lifespan Approach- Early Intervention, Special school, Vocational Training , Inclusive Education.
Work and Achievements
Over last 5 years of participation in ADHM, the numbers of early referrals of children under 6 years, with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Handicaps has increased significantly -almost 75% of ROSHNI’s total registrations.
Since 2011 Active Awareness with social groups, parents, administration, local / outstation Medical practitioners, resulted in increased local referrals & from Delhi, Mumbai, Jabalpur, Jhansi etc.
The importance of early identification and intervention of developmental difficulties is stressed upon all sections; especially parents spreading the word and bringing in others. The infants are admitted to the 2 Early Intervention Units, one Unit for all Developmental Disabilities has provided services since 2003 and the 2nd, the ComDEALL Early Intervention Unit for Autism Spectrum and Communication Disorders was launched in 2012.
Our Strong focus on Inclusive Education through ROSHNI’s Mainstream Teacher Training & School Support Programme, has resulted in relationship building with a network with 50 schools & increasing referrals from and admission of children with special needs, to local schools. Some children who came as infants, now adults- graduated to mainstream colleges or vocational skill training programme.
The challenge - lack of adequate trained professional staff and limited resources, to meet the growing demands and number of beneficiaries. We urgently need -regular inputs by Speech & Occupational Therapists, unavailable locally, therefore to provide effective services to younger children, spread our work to neighbouring rural areas and support children in mainstream schools, we will need to recruit outstation.
Fund Utilisation Statement
The focus - Raise funds to develop and sustain Early Intervention programmes. With the increased awareness regarding developmental disabilities, there is an increase in the number of children new registration; we need to provide adequate facilities.
