Our Mission

Plan India strives for a just world that advances children's rights and equality for girls.

Work and Achievements

Plan India, a member of Plan International Federation, is a nationally registered independent child development organisation. For over 35 years, Plan India and its partners have improved the lives of millions of children by providing them access to protection, education, healthcare, a healthy environment, livelihood opportunities and participation in decisions which affect their lives.

‘Because I am a Girl’ (BIAAG) is Plan’s global campaign to create a world that values girls, promotes girls’ rights and ends injustice. Through more than 500 projects across the world, the BIAAG movement has transformed the lives of more than 1.9 million girls in 2015, directly impacting 5 million girls since 2012.

Some projects under the BIAAG umbrella include:

Saksham: Supports disadvantaged youth, especially young girls and women, by equipping them with life and market oriented vocational skills. So far, 6,000 individuals have been

Digital Learning Centre: Leverages technology to provide education to young women aged between 15-25 years within their community. 10,000 families have been sensitised on the importance of girls’ education through 12 centres set up in the slum clusters of Delhi.

Balika Shivir: Provides girls in Rajasthan with an education through structured learning camps. Due to the programme, girls getting married before 18 years has dropped from 47% to 27%.

Through such programmes, Plan India continues to advance the call for better education, survival and life skills for girls across India.
