Work and Achievements

Established in 1995, Suniye is a leading non profit organization in India working with and for hearing impaired children. It has become a representative for the hearing impaired children assisted by professional speech therapists ,audiologists, doctors, teachers etc

Suniye’s mission is to help hearing impaired acquire language, learn to talk, go to regular schools and become part of mainstream society. Suniye aims at early intervention to have them acquire language and speech. By running a support school Suniye encourages inclusive education while helping in developing speech and language

Suniye is one of the very few institutions in Delhi teaching spoken language to hearing impaired children. Suniye since 1995 has helped over 1000+ hearing impaired children learn to listen and speak. Children from

Suniye school have moved up in life professionally and personally. Due to efforts of Suniye, Govt. of Delhi ordered admission of all disabled children in the Govt. run and Govt. aided schools Govt. of Delhi recognized 60 decibel loss in both the ears as hearing impairment for all purposes. On Suniye’s request Delhi University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Dept. of Education New Delhi have reserved 3% for disabled individuals

On Suniye’s request Govt. enhanced hearing aid reimbursement ceiling to INR 10,000 per hearing aid and up to INR 60,000 for digital hearing aids. Recognising Suniye’s efforts Delhi Transport Corporation started giving free passes for disabled children

The Ali Yavar Jung Institute for the Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH) has been recognised for issuing hearing loss certificates for Identity Cards.

Fund Utilisation Statement

Funds will be required to hire and utilize trained speech therapists, language teachers and audiologists to handhold and coach hearing impaired students / learners.
