Our Mission

QWAIRDS works for the integrated development of quarry people and urban poor through liberating, Educating and Organizing the Quarry workers and the urban poor

Work and Achievements

The overall aim of the project is to improve the education condition of 1135 quarry and slum children in Bangalore regions

  • Provide Early Childhood Education and health services among 350 neglected & malnourished quarry and slum children (2-6 years) (5 creches)
  • Education support for 260 child labourers and dropout quarry and slum children (6-16 years) through bridge schools (3 bridge school centres)
  • Provided extra coaching classes to 475 weaker school going quarry and slum children (5 non-formal tuition centres)
  • Rescue, relief and rehabilitate 50 exploited quarry and slum children in Temporary Day care drop-in centres in Bangalore.

The programme will be implemented for a period of 12 months. Firstly, to establish 5 Early learning centres like creche, benefiting 350 children. The major activities are appointment of staffs, providing daily nutritious food.

Secondly, to start 3 bridge school centres benefiting 260 dropouts and child labor children. Major activities are appointment of teachers; provide educational aids like books, fees, uniform, etc. Thirdly, we establish 5 non-formal evening tuition centres in slums and quarries to motivate and retain the quarry and slums in school. Fourthly, to rescue 50 trafficked, neglected, exploited and abused quarry and slum children. Major activities are appointment of staffs, provide legal aids, etc
