U&I focus is to educate underprivileged children across India through after-school programs.
India is a country where 21.9% live below the poverty line, 28.5% are destitute and only 10% of us hold 33% of the nation’s wealth. At U&I, we are working towards bridging this gap by building communities of change that work together to bridge this social and economic barrier through education. Our students are taught by volunteers from the best colleges and leading corporations. These volunteers nurture their students’ dreams and help them achieve their goals. U&I has 3 key programs -
U&I Teach: Non-formal Education for Underprivileged Children With over 30 classes a week, in 15 education based Learning Centers catering to over 650 students across 3 cities, U&I helps increase the employability of women, children and youth from lesser privileged backgrounds with courses in English, tuitions and life skills.
U&I Care : Transforming Institutional Care U&I assists in the care and rehabilitation of 180 mentally challenged men and boys in state homes of the Mentally Handicapped near Dairy Circle. U&I provides medical care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and grooming in these Homes. In the last four years, U&I has made a tremendous impact on the level of care and rehabilitation provided to these men and boys who have been abandoned by their families.
U&I Rise : Raising Awareness, Inspiring Action Every year, U&I conducts social awareness events and campaigns in schools, colleges and companies inspiring people to take action and be the change in society. Over the last four years, U&I has reached over 100,000 people through seminars, talks, short films and social media challenging them to get involved in social action.
