Ina Raja Memorial Education Trust is a registered charitable organization working for the last 18 years with socially and economically disadvantaged children. The primary activity of the Trust is to provide free supplementary education to children from extremely poor families so as to reduce their dropout rate from formal school system. Most of the 150 children enrolled with us attend local government schools which are known for inadequate resources, indifferent teaching staff and high dropout rates. IRMET employs 11 paid teachers and some excellent and committed volunteers who help children excel at school as well as empower them through theatre, music and art.
Over the last 18 years, our annual budget has increased from Rs 17,000 to more than 10 lakhs in 2013-14. Since 2010 we have also been receiving a matching grant of up to Rs 3 lakhs from the prestigious Smile Foundation of India.
