Our Mission

To provide compassionate palliative care for people with life limiting illness and for those important to them, through quality medical, emotional, spiritual and social support.

Work and Achievements

Bangalore Hospice Trust (BHT) – Karunashraya, a non-profit charitable trust providing professional palliative care (free of cost) to advanced stage cancer patients, who are beyond cure.

Established in 1994, Karunashraya is a joint initiative between The Indian Cancer Society and the Rotary Club of Bangalore, Indiranagar. Some of the services provided by the Trust include In-patient total care services (since 1999), Home Care services (since 1995), patient and family advisory services, and educational training programs for health professionals and health assistants. Since inception, through its Home Care and In-patient care (which accommodates 73 patients) services, Karunashraya has cared for more than 19?,500 patients and touched the lives of more than 75,000 families, by rendering a supportive environment.

At the hospice, our effort is to provide patients comfort, dignity, peace and a better quality of life, irrespective of their caste, creed, age, and gender. To continue the services and provide utmost care and support to the patients who are in the final days of their lives, we need your help.

Vision:

  • provide the highest quality in-patient and home-based palliative care, free   of cost, to people with a life-limiting illness
  • continuously improve the quality of palliative care provided through   research, training and innovation
  • play a lead role in advocacy of palliative care.

Fund Utilisation Statement

The funds raised in the TCS W10K 2017 will be used to provide free service through the purchase of provisions and medical consumables for the advanced stage cancer patients.
