Our Mission

Empower people with bodily disabilities to live a life of complete Participation and Contribution.

Work and Achievements

Astha is a Non-Profit Organization based in Bangalore working towards empowering the 20 million plus differently abled people of India.

Prime Focus Areas:

Para Sports– Indian Wheelchair Tennis Tour (IWTT), a division of Astha focuses on developing the sport by conducting AITA ranked tournaments, camps, and development at the grassroots.  IWTT is the only body in India that conducts AITA ranked wheelchair tennis tournaments. Our aim is to put Indian wheelchair tennis on the World Map in the next 4 years. We have also conducted swimming camps and supporting a para-swimmer to train for the Paralympics 2020.

Education- Astha encourages differently abled people to pursue professional courses like Chartered Accountancy, Engineering, Medicine and not limit themselves to skill-based education. We provide scholarships and mentoring programs for candidates from the lower income group.

Democracy – Astha enables differently-abled people to participate in the democratic process by voting. We are happy to share that we contributed to the amendment of the Form 6 of the Electoral Commission that now captures disability information of the voter.

Jugalbandi Events - Astha’s unique approach is in creating and providing opportunities for interaction between the “able” and the “differently able” worlds through its innovative idea of Jugalbandi Art, Music, Dance and Sports. This unique approach enables the participation of both these worlds thereby giving a platform to understand and empower each other.

Fund Utilisation Statement

Having conducted three AITA ranked wheelchair tennis tournaments in India, we have seen the impact that this sport has made on the physical, social and financial levels of the players and we are all the more determined to develop this sport
