In 2010, I moved back home and founded a non profit organisation One Billion Literates Foundation (OBLF), which is a Registered Charitable Trust with 12A, 80G and FCRA approvals. We teach basic English level and Computer skills to underprivileged children who attend Rural Government Primary Schools, with the ultimate goal of giving them an equal opportunity to gain meaningful employment on reaching adulthood. OBLF trains and employs rural women from those same communities to impart these skills to the children.
My two passions in life – Quality Education for rural children and Women Empowerment and – are beautifully interwoven at OBLF.
Currently OBLF works in 45 rural schools in Anekal Taluk of Banaglore District, impacting over 2500 children and 50 rural women.
This year I am planning to run the TCS Open 10K and will also be raising funds for the foundation. Our costs are really low, and we spend annually just about Rs.3,000/- per child. My goal is to raise funds for 50 kids for the coming year. I hope you will support me in reaching this goal by donating just Rs.6,000/- for 2 children and experience the change in India that we wish to see in our lifetime.
For FCRA donations, please directly contact Ruby Kamdin– Director at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on +919632600650
Thank you for your generosity.
