I have long been engaged in different social activities. I run and bike to raise funds for many charities or NGOs. In Boston, I raised funds for Cancer Research, American liver Foundation, Alzheimer Disease Foundation, Brain Tumor Societies, for Dana Farber Cancer Institute by Pan Mass Challenge (PMC). I also participated in the Vodafone Cyclothonfor OBLF. As in the past many years, this year too I am supporting One Billion Literates Foundation (OBLF).
OBLF is a registered non-profit charitable organization that works as a partner to the state government and adopts government primary schools in rural India.
The mission of this Foundation is to impart basic English and computer skills to the children in the adopted schools so that they can find meaningful employment later on in life. The Foundation trains rural women from the communities around the schools and engages them to teach the children in the adopted schools. This unique model has seen a terrific response as it is not only benefiting underprivileged children but also the communities in which they live.
I would appreciate it very much if would make a donation to this Foundation that has been keeping admin costs really low (for example the Director of OBLF gets no salary as compared to CEO/Director of this type of organization comes with a big package) so that almost all the donor funds reach the under-served. They are currently impacting over 2500 rural children, with support from people like you, and they will continue to do so in the next academic year as well.
I strongly believe that together we can make a difference in our society and hope you will join me to raise funds for this noble cause. All contributions are tax deductible. Please donate by clicking the button below or write a check in favour of "One Billion Literates Foundation" and mail it to me or directly to OBLF.
OBLF has developed a very interactive and fun way of teaching, which extensively uses Laptops as a teaching tool. I have set my target at raising funds for at least 6 laptops, costing Rs.1.5lakhs (~ 2400 US$) and hope that you will help me achieve my goal.
