The Naz Foundation (India) Trust
The vision of Naz is to create a just and equitable society by transforming individuals from socially and economically excluded communities into agents of change.
Work and Achievements
One Nation Netball Cup (ONNC) is the only annual mixed-team netball tournament in India organized by The Naz Foundation (India) Trust. ONNC uses the medium of sport to foster gender equality, social inclusion, and leadership to build a critical mass of young sports change makers from the remotest locations of India.
Started with 7 teams from 5 states in the 1 st edition in 2013, ONNC has hosted 16 teams from 10 states in the 6 th edition this year. ONNC is a platform for the young players from marginalized communities where they can play competitive netball in a safe environment and excel in the game. The tournament provides infrastructure to play sports, facilitates the process of cultural exchange and offers life skills sessions on time management, team work, diversity, and gender. Many of the players have never had the opportunity to participate in a tournament of this size, and the vast majority have never had the opportunity to travel away from their home without being accompanied by family.
The three-day tournament is organized by the young coaches of Naz’s sport for development program, Young People’s Initiative (YPI). These change agents take lead on various aspects of the event such as arranging travel and food, accommodation, booking sports facilities, prepare match fixtures, umpiring, life skill sessions, etc.
