Farmveda - Centre for Collective Development
Bring prosperity to farmers of INDIA by emulating AMUL cooperative model for non-dairy products.
Work and Achievements
CCD and Farmveda are twin organizations working for the prosperity of small farmers in India. CCD (www.ccd.ngo) set up in 2004, organizes farmers into Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). Farmveda (www.farmveda.in ) was launched in 2017 and makes value added products and gives all profits to farmers. We work in non-irrigated, rain fed, single crop regions where farmer distress is high. Last year we covered 25,000 farmers with a turnover of Rs.60 crores. The extra benefit per farmer was about Rs.25,000 showing a more than 100% increase in income. We currently work in two districts of Andhra Pradesh, and one in Telangana. This year we are expanding to Karnataka, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha.
For each rupee of grant received, CCD returned more than Rs.5 to the farmers, without any subsidy. The FPOs have been enabled to do business with better marketing through collective action. CCD and Farmveda together are replicating the well-known Amul Milk model beyond the dairy sector. Farmveda makes value added branded foods as the farmgate price is often less than 10 times the competitive retail price.
CCD and Farmveda are managed by highly qualified professionals from the IITs, IIMs, Chartered Accountants and others. They have given up very promising high paying careers to work for this cause.
You can support the farmers by donating to CCD and by buying and promoting Farmveda products.
