“Educating and empowering families to create healthy and sustainable communities” With this motto, Dakshini Prayash is making efforts under the verticals of education, health, and self-reliance.
Work and Achievements
DP has been imparting holistic education under the umbrella of Madurdaha Satyavriti Vidyalaya and has grown to a strength of 400 students under the guidance of 40 teaching staff. It is located in Madurdaha District.
Here educational activities are enhanced through the support of state-of-the-art e-learning equipment across all classrooms, workshops and classes in visual and performing arts, as well as character building and physical development.
Overlapping with these efforts, the institution also emphasizes on the importance of physical health through providing all children with healthy meals twice a day, physical fitness classes, and trainings from various sports experts. Extending the health programs to the larger community, Dakshini Prayash conducts regular health camps for the children, their families, and other community members. This is made possible in partnership with esteemed doctors from the city and organizations like Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club.
Other community development programs include skill development and training to produce an exciting range of hand made paper and cloth products, which are not only retailed on Kolkata, but have made way to various shops and events across India and parts of the globe. These self-reliance programs allow the women on the community to use their skill for productivity and earning an extra income to become empowered citizens in their communities.
With several institutional recognition awards, students excellence results in the academics and sports, and a growing volunteer and patron base, Dakshini Prayash is striving to achieve its vision and become a role model organization for other communities in the city and beyond.
Fund Utilisation Statement
As we are approaching the 25 th year of Dakshini Prayash we want to further embed sports as a mandatory activity in the curriculum. This will require us to upgrade our existing infrastructure, purchase sports equipment, and also hire additional staff.
