Work and Achievements
Hi! We are Shilpa, Pavithra, Chiranjeev, Tony and we undergo a life centered career training at Diya.
We have learned to look after ourselves and maintain personal hygiene, keep our rooms clean and dust free, plan, shop and cook simple meals within a budget.
We are aware where grocery shops, banks, post office, hospital, restaurants are in the Community and realize there is much we can do if we too are trained. We have learned, in the clerical space: how to file, scan, print, do basic data entry , use a photocopier and have even learnt to use photoshop and design brochures posters, greeting cards;
In the retail/hospitality space: how to clean and stack shelves, wipe tables, dishes, greet people, answer the phone. Some of us have learned to block print, paint and some to sew as part of leisure and self employment skills. Some of us have even got jobs in the Community and are able to follow instructions, give praise, accept criticism, look out for each other, take care of our parents and siblings and plan leisure skills one of which is walking and learning to be healthy through the TCS World 10K.
Thank you for believing in us and sponsoring our cause. It makes a huge difference to our lives and we are proud with what we have achieved. It takes around Rs.7,500/- per month to train each one of us. Do help us to support ourselves towards being self dependent, productive and contributing citizens of India.
