Shelter is one of the basic needs for human survival. Only once you have a roof above your head, along with other essentials like food and water, can you move beyond the survival level to higher wants like safety, education, and equality.

Unfortunately, in India, millions still don’t have access to shelter and sanitation facilities, which means they are stuck in just the survival part of life. They cannot progress or improve their lives without meeting these fundamental requirements.

Habitat for Humanity aims to ensure a world where everyone has a decent place to live. There are three main programs through which it plans to achieve this:

Housing: Building homes for families

Sanitation: Building sanitation facilities in schools and communities

Disaster Risk Reduction and Response: Building disaster resistant homes in risk-prone areas

This covers the fundamental aspects of shelter.

My purpose for supporting Habitat for Humanity is because one, shelter is vital and two, the goal of building shelters is achievable. Habitat for Humanity has already built better livelihoods for over 4.3 million people in India.

Donating for building shelters enables families to look beyond survival. The funds raised will be used to build homes and sanitation units across Karnataka.

Help families fulfill the necessities for a decent life and pave the way for a better future.
