Akshaya Patra operates world’s largest meal program serving hot cooked meal to 1.5 million children in 24 locations across 10 states of India.
Work and Achievements
Akshaya Patra reaches out to 1.5 million school children in 24 locations across 10 states of India, providing them with freshly cooked meal on all school days. Currently, we implement the mid-day meal program in 11,000 schools of the country, with plans to increase that number to hundreds more. The states covered are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

Achievements & Recognitions:
1. Awarded as the ‘Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise’ at the CII Knowledge Summit 2015.
2. Received Nikki Asia Prize in 2015-16.
3. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) have awarded Akshaya Patra its Gold Medal for Financial Reporting 5 years in a row, thus entering its Hall Of Fame – only the third organization to achieve this, and the only NGO.
