Work and Achievements
NTWS organized more than 60 Voluntary Blood donation Camps in liaison with the Govt. Blood Banks for safe supply of blood in Delhi/NCR and collected 5241 units of blood.
National Thalassemia Welfare Society is celebrating 25th Anniversary year. Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Director General ICMR inaugurated the function on 22nd Nov 2015 at 8 Dr. BD Marg, N.D-1 in the residence of Sh. Hansraj Ahir, Hon’ble Union Minister & Km Surrendar Saini (President, NTWS), Padma Bhushan Awardee and a role model for social sector of our country illustrated the journey of NTWS.
Thalassemia Mass Awareness Campaign conducted at Raahagiri, Connaught Place on 14th February 2016. Ankur Theatre Group from SBTB Khalsa College DU & students from SOIL, Gurgaon performed street plays on Thalassemia Prevention. The Campaign began enthusiastically with welcome speech by Dr. J.S. Arora followed by distribution of mementos, certificates & free PVR Cinema tickets.
Dr. A P Dubey H.o D Pediatrics, LN Hospital, Dr. Jagdish Chander, Director Lady Harding Medical College & Dr. Dharma Choudhry, Hematologist & BMT Specialist BL Kapoor Hospital highlighted the maintenance of a Thalassemia Major and appealed all the audience for Thalassemia Test before marriage. 35 Thalassemia children received free Infusion pumps, 400 children are receiving free medicines and 5 patients received funds from NTWS for BMT operation this year.
