Our Mission

SUKRUPA's mission is to provide high-quality primary and secondary education tounderprivileged children and young adults, giving them the resources to break the cycle of poverty and create stable, sustainable future.

Work and Achievements

SUKRUPA is a Registered Public Charitable Trust (49/04-05) working in Bangalore with Slum
children in the areas of Education, Nutrition & Health for over 14 years. Most of the children at SUKRUPA are first generation students from the slums born to young parents who are unskilled laborers who migrate from rural poverty to cities in search of livelihood and settle in slums. The populations of these slums are basically migrant labourers and socio economically disadvantaged families from neighbouring states of Tamilnadu and Andrapradesh and different parts of Karnataka.

The importance of education, especially girl child education was not a felt need in the society. The most affected and vulnerable are the women and children. As they struggle for basic survival, education is not a priority. Even if the child is sent to school, it is very likely majority of them drop out when they are teenagers. This results in girls becoming young mothers at 13 or 14 and boys a burden on family's meager income.

For over 14 years, SUKRUPA has been making sure young girls and boys focus on education and become Independent, Responsible and Positive Contributors; avoiding child marriages, addiction, unemployment and dependency.

  • 100% of 2014-15 batch of 10th graders who were all first generation students have graduated and are now studying in colleges.
